Fundraising Events Organized by Community Groups

Groups of all sizes from across New England organize fundraising events to benefit Abby’s House. Just a few of many examples of these are:

  • The Women’s Golf Group at the Worcester Country Club – each holiday season, this group of women collects gift cards, sheets and towels for the women and children at Abby's House
  • The students at Worcester State College organize an annual auction, donating 100% of the proceeds to Abby's. To date, they have raised more than $30,000! 
  • Each year, the Mom’s Club of Lancaster recruits area small business owners to participate in a holiday shopping event. 100% of the proceeds from this event are donated to Abby's House. 
  • EMC organizes an annual benefit auction that raises between $12,000 - 15,000 for Abby's House
  • Women in Wine -- held for the past seven years, Women in Wine is an evening of food and wine that attracts hundreds of people, with 100% of the proceeds going to support the programming at Abby's House. To date, Women in Wine has raised more than $100,000 for Abby's House.
  • Hip Hip Her Race -- this benefit 5K race was organized by several area business women. In 2010 -- its inaugural year -- it attracted nearly two hundred runners and walkers of all ages and raised more than $9,000 for Abby's House.

 
If you would like to organize a community fundraising event and donate all or some of the proceeds to Abby’s House, we are required by law to ask you to register it with us. Once your event is registered and Abby's House has reviewed and approved your plan, you will receive a letter of authorization on Abby's House letterhead to verify that you are doing fundraising on the organization’s behalf.

Once we authorize your event, we may post your event on the Abby's House website and/or Facebook page. We may also attend your event and take pictures, which we may post on our website and/or Facebook page. If you take photos at your event and email them to sarah@abbyshouse.org, we may choose to post them on our website and/or Facebook page.
 
If you are planning to approach local corporations and businesses for sponsorships, please contact us to discuss this first, as we already get support from many area businesses.
 
Checks from events should be made payable to Abby Kelley Foster House, Inc. and submitted within 90 days of the event. If you would prefer to present the check in person, please contact Sarah Lange, Director of Fund Development and External Relations: (508) 756-5486 ext. 18.
